Kongsberg International School is a non-profit foundation established in 2002 by Kongsberg Gruppen ASA, FMC Kongsberg Subsea AS, Kongsberg Automotive ASA and Kongsberg Nærings- og Handelskammer (Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

The school opened its doors in August 2003. The purpose of the school is to serve Kongsberg and the surrounding communities by providing a high quality international education, based on the International Baccalaureate Program (www.ibo.org), using English as the principal medium of instruction.

Although many of our students are Norwegian, a growing international community in Kongsberg and its surroundings is providing us with students from many different nations.
 

KIS is an IB World School.  We are fully authorised in the Primary Years Programme for students aged between 3 and 12 years and the Middle Years Programme for students aged between 12 and 16 years. Kongsberg Videregående School in partnership with KIS offer a fully authorized Diploma Programme for students from 16 years of age at their campus just a short distance from KIS. 

These three programmes help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
