Application to School

Kongsberg International School is open to everyone who fills the requirements to enter state schools in Norway. Admission for the new school year is confirmed in May each year. Students can also apply to join KIS at any point during the school year if places are available. If places are not available, your child's name can be placed on our waiting list to be considered for admission, according to our admission policy, when a place becomes available. Parents of wait-listed children should contact the school regularly to confirm their wish to have their child remain on the waiting list.

Parents wishing to apply to KIS should first complete an application form, including a language profile. When a space is offered, parents must then to sign and return a contract in order to confirm a place.

Application to Preschool
Parents wishing to apply for a space in the Preschool need to visit the Kommune web page at http://www.kongsberg.kommune.no/ before March 1. There you can find an online form to fill out – either under “oppvekst” or “24:7 selvbetjening”. This is the same form and process as for all “barnehager” (nurseries/kindergartens) in Kongsberg.

School Uniform
The school uniform can be ordered through a web shop administered by Friluftskompaniet. The internet address of the web shop is: http://www.mamut.net/friluftskompaniet/shop/

Guidelines for purchasing uniform are that:

  • the uniform can only be ordered by the parent/guardian (minimum 18 years of age), not by the student
  • all orders must be done via the web shop
  • uniforms that are delivered will not be changed unless there is something wrong with the item, in which case it will be changed free of charge
  • Friluftskompagniet will provide the school with sample clothes in different sizes for students to try on, if the parents/guardian is not sure about the students’ size
  • uniforms will be sent by post to the buyer and no uniforms will be distributed at school
  • the logo will be embroidered if ordered for the start of the academic year and when available in stock; otherwise supplementary orders throughout the year will be with a printed logo
  • orders placed  in June and January will be embroidered.
