Primary Years Programme
What will my child learn in the PYP at KIS?

For students age 6 to 12 we offer:
- a safe, caring family atmosphere
- a disciplined and purposeful learning environment
- regular communication about your child’s learning experiences
- highly dedicated and qualified staff
- modern well-equipped library and computer facilities
- an excellent Norwegian language programme
- before- and after-school varied structured programmes in music, art, crafts, dance, activities and educational games
- Holiday Club structured programmes during school holidays.
The PYP has developed a transdisciplinary curriculum, which draws the individual subject disciplines together into a coherent whole, while preserving the essence of each subject. It aims to synthesize the best research and practice from a range of national systems, with the wealth of knowledge and experience in international schools to create a curriculum, which is relevant, challenging and engaging. The PYP curriculum sets high standards for, and has high expectations of, its students.
Your child will:
- develop a deep understanding of important concepts
- conduct research into knowledge, which has local and global significance
- acquire and practise a range of essential skills
- be encouraged to develop positive attitudes towards learning, the environment and other people
- have the opportunity for involvement in responsible action and social service.
