Assistant
Kongsberg International School is currently recruiting for the following temporary position: Assistant 72%. The position is available from Sept 1st 2025, and until the end of the school year (31 July 2026).

General information
Please note that all teaching staff must meet the Norwegian national requirements for qualifications for teaching staff (as set out in §14 of “Forskrift til Opplæringsloven” – the Regulations appertaining to the Norwegian Education Act) in order to gain a permanent contract. Teaching staff with qualifications from abroad must gain approval from the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (“Utdanningsdirektoratet”) in order to qualify for a permanent contract. The employee must also provide the school with valid documentation of all relevant qualifications and experience stated on their CV.
The school is committed to safe recruitment and safeguarding of young people. The school also expects its employees to be committed to the safeguarding of young people. As such, references will be required and checked for all positions before an offer of employment is made. Successful candidates are expected to supply a minimum of two referees, one of whom would normally be the candidate’s current employer. In addition, all successful applicants must submit an up-to-date limited Norwegian police certificate/criminal record check before starting their employment at the school (as set out in the Norwegian Independent Schools Act §4-3, third subsection). Applicants should not send a criminal record check until an offer of employment has been received. Please note that regular volunteers and student teachers are also required to submit criminal record checks (for student teachers, these can be submitted to the educational institution).
All offers of employment will be conditional upon the receipt of the afore-mentioned documentation and upon the school’s evaluation of criminal record checks. Failure to submit the required documentation may result in an offer of employment being withdrawn.
Unfortunately, several scams relating to non-existent teaching jobs at international schools have circulated on the Internet in recent years, which include information taken from official websites. If you are unsure whether a teaching position exists, please do contact the school directly. KIS never charges fees for applications for employment and candidates should carefully consider the requests made when applying to any reputable international school.
Due to the historically large volume of applications received, we regret that we are not able to process open applications. We do however accept applications from anyone living or moving to the local area who are interested in working as cover/substitute staff. Such applications can be sent to: office@kischool.org
